About our School

In our secondary school are present four types of curricula:

  • Liceo Linguistico (mainly linguistic studies)
  • Liceo delle Scienze Umane (mainly social and pedagogical studies)
  • Liceo Economico-Sociale (mainly economics, social and laws studies)
  • Liceo Musicale (mainly musical culture and artistic practice with musical instruments)

All curricula offer a wide base both in humanistic and scientific fields, and have a natural outcome in university education, providing access to all fields of study.

Our school is located in a historical building in a small city, Pavia, 30 km south of Milan. The city is located along the banks of Ticino river, and has a very well-preserved historical centre. Pavia has a very long tradition of history and culture thanks to its University, founded in the 14th-century, and its architecture and monuments, which are displayed all around the city in buildings, churches, convents, squares. The river Ticino offers an amazing scenario to the city itself, with marvellous parks and paths.

Intern Responsibilities/Tasks

LANGUAGE ASSISTANCE: the intern could be given

– Co-teaching duties: supportive role to language teachers

– Co-teaching duties: supportive role in CLIL settings

Possible activities could include: practicing oral language with pupils, participating in the implementation of educational projects, assistance with lesson preparation (e.g. preparation of teaching materials, copying activities etc., embracing technology as an essential tool for teaching and learning).

CLIL activities are required in at least one of the following languages: English, Spanish, German, French, Chinese.

CLIL settings are required in the following fields: Maths, Physics (and Science in general), Art History, History, Philosophy, Economics and Social Studies. We must say that Maths, Physics and History are preferable to the others.

PROJECT SUPPORT: the intern could provide support for special limited-time projects the school is carrying out. The intern can be assigned to assist in thematic projects, preparation for subject area competitions, media productions (theater, film, podcasts, etc.), preparations for large events or participating in the implementation of a school exchange.

GRADE LEVEL(S) OF THE PUPILS: secondary school, pupils aged from 14 to 19.

Qualifications & Experience required

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS: at least B2 level (according to CEFR).

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS: student teachers can be currently enrolled in as well as recently graduated from one of the seven universities of the EC2U Alliance.

WORK EXPERIENCE: no previous work experience is essential.

By the way, the highest degree of professionalism and the adhesion to ethical standards as well the use of cross-cultural sensitivity are appreciated and recommended when interacting with school administrators, colleagues and pupils.

Anyway, evidence of content knowledge, as well as ability to teach and to reflect on teaching is very welcome. Candidates should be able to engage all students in learning by setting appropriate goals; candidates design and select learning activities, instructional settings and resources; and they plan fair and equitable assessment strategies to evaluate if the learning goals are met.

PERSONAL QUALITIES:

  • candidates should be able to support a positive disposition toward educational processes and ways of thinking, trying to understand how students learn in the field of interest in order to develop their knowledge;
  • candidates should be able to interrelate and interpret important concepts, ideas and applications in their fields of licensure;
  • candidates should be extremely collaborative, passionate and empathetic and demonstrate willingness to work cooperatively with their supervisor and the rest of the professional staff;
  • candidates should also manage to interact with people who don’t speak their own language.

About our School

In our secondary school are provided two types of curricula:

–              Liceo Classico (mainly Humanistic and Classical languages studies)

All curricula offer a deep knowledge of their field of studies outcome in university education, provide access to all university faculties /departments.

Our school is located in a historical building in a small city, Pavia, 30 km south of Milan.

Pavia has a very well-preserved historical centre, characterized by Roman and Medieval buildings and architectures; its University, was founded in the 14th-century (it is one of the oldest in Europe).

There are green areas near the Ticino River.

Intern Responsibilities/Tasks

2 LANGUAGE ASSISTANCE: the intern could be given

  • Co-teaching duties: supportive role to language teachers
  • Co-teaching duties: supportive role in CLIL settings Activities could include: practising oral language, participating in the

implementation of educational projects, assistance with lesson preparation (e.g. preparation of teaching materials, copying activities etc., embracing technology as an essential tool for teaching and learning).

CLIL activities are required in English language.

CLIL settings are required in the following fields: Biology (and Science in general) and

Physics (possibly an expert in renewable sources and climate or someone committed with energy and climate issues.

1 PROJECT SUPPORT: the intern could provide support for special limited-time projects the

school is carrying out. The intern is asked to assist in theme projects; his tasks include: classes, debates on contemporary history, political and law issues.

Project settings are required in the following fields: International law or economy.

Project support activities are required in English language.

GRADE LEVEL(S) OF THE PUPILS: secondary school, pupils aged from 15 to 19.

Qualifications & Experience required

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS: at least C1 level (according to CEFR).

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS: student teachers can be currently studying for P.h.D from one of the seven universities of the EC2U Alliance.

Liceo N. Copernico (Scientifico)

About our School

The school “Liceo Copernico” is located in Pavia, Lombardia. It prepares students to scientific studies, but it gives also a solid education in classical studies. In the shcool there are three main tracks:

  1. Regular
  2. Ippocrate – supplementary science lessons
  3. Cambridge – Some subjects are taught in English to get the Cambridge Certification

Intern Responsibilities/Tasks

– Observing the school community and lessons

– Sharing ideas about methods and planning activities

– Teaching maths contents

– Assistance with lesson preparation (preparation of material)

– Helping students to solve problems

– Encouraging oral communication between students

– Exchanging cultural experiences with school teachers and students

 

Qualifications & Experience required

– Bachelor Degree or Master Degree (or equivalent): expertise in mathematics

– Fluent in English (B2 or higher in written and oral)

– Good communication skills

– Open to new cultures and experiences

– Flexible to possible changes (timing of tasks or new activities)
