From the 12th to the 14th of March, the University of Salamanca served as the vibrant host for the Annual Meeting of the RI4C2 – Research & Innovation for Cities & Citizens project. This gathering marked a pivotal moment in advancing the collective efforts of the EC2U Alliance to enhance Research and Innovation activities within its member universities.

The RI4C2 project stands as a beacon of collaboration, aiming to foster strategies and tools that empower research and innovation. Through the collaborative efforts of the partner universities, this initiative seeks to harness the potential of collective action in addressing the evolving needs of cities and citizens.

At the heart of the meeting was a focused agenda to showcase the progress achieved thus far. Among the notable achievements highlighted was the development of a common research and innovation agenda across partner universities. This unified approach serves as a cornerstone for driving impactful initiatives and fostering cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Furthermore, the RI4C2 Session, entitled “Beyond RI4C2”, aimed at looking towards the future and anticipating upcoming activities and developments in the EC2U Alliance. Notably, the digital environment of the Alliance was discussed in depth, to ensure that RI4C2 results and outputs will remain visible, accessible and reusable in future activities.

Finally, one notable outcome of the meeting was the decision to establish an engagement framework for researchers. This framework aims to find proper funding for future projects and engage researchers, ultimately amplifying the project’s impact on a broader scale

The RI4C2 project continues to chart a course toward a future where research and innovation are leveraged as powerful tools for societal advancement. By uniting universities, empowering citizens, and fostering collaboration, this initiative embodies the spirit of collective action. This will culminate at the closing event of the RI4C2 project with the launch of the Pan-European Knowledge Ecosystem on the 11th & 12th of June, hosted this time by the University of Poitiers.
