The EC2U Alliance is proud to present the “Introduction to Sustainable Cities and Communities Open Lectures”, hosted by the University of Coimbra (Portugal).

On the 3rd and 4th of October, Master’s and Ph.D. students from EC2U universities are invited to take part in the first Open Lectures in Coimbra untitled ‘Introduction to Sustainable Cities and Communities‘. This experience will give the opportunity to participants to learn more about sustainable mobility through workshops, presentations, guided teamwork sessions and social activities.

Day 1  Travel and accommodation
Day 2 Seminar on Sustainable Mobility (Part I):

  • Eduardo Barata, Metro Mondego, Coimbra
  • Anabela Ribeiro, Professor at Civil Engineering Dep., UC
  • John Ogundiran, Ph.D. student, UC
Day 3 Seminar on Sustainable Mobility (Part II):

  • Energy Aspects of Road Transportation Means, Manuel Gameiro da Silva (Professor at Mechanical Engineering Dep., UC)
  • Visit to the Sports Science Laboratory, Amândio Santos (Professor at Sports Science Faculty, UC)
  • Guided visit to the University of Coimbra World Heritage site and its contribution to a sustainable city and community
  • Social activities
Day 4  Return travel

Requirements

The event targets students of  Master’s level and Ph.D. level of all study area from EC2U Universities.

 

Selection criteria

The selection of students will be based on the following criteria:

  • Enrolled at an EC2U university at the time of the event
  • At least a B2 level of English
  • Motivation, including interest in sustainable urban development
  • Balanced diversity (gender and study areas) of participants

Local EC2U will contact selected participants via e-mail and will start the mobility procedures

 

Certification and travel grant

Participants will receive a certificate of participation and an EC2U mobility grant of €400 for travel expenses and €130 per day for other expenses.
