The 2nd edition of the Science Battle will take place on the 30th of September, and will feature the universities of Coimbra (Portugal), Iași (Romania), Jena (Germany), and Salamanca (Spain).

The Science Battle is a game-like event that aims at showing how researchers tackle a new research question and demonstrating the process of conducting research. The game was created in 2016 at the University of Turku, Finland and now exist at the level of the European Campus of City Universities (EC2U) Alliance.

The first round of the EC2U Science Battle was organised last year between the universities of Pavia (Italy), Poitiers (France) and Turku (Finland).
The winner of the 2nd edition, organised between the universities of Coimbra, Iasi, Jena, and Salamanca will face a team from the University of Pavia, winner of 2021, during the finals in 2023.
The game will be organised online as well as on-site if the COVID-19 restrictions allow it.

Send us your questions!

The public has a significant role to play in the implementation of the event: YOU are the one suggesting questions to ask the researchers.
The research teams are multidisciplinary, and the questions can be about anything. In the previous Science Battles, the researchers reflected, among other things, on: “why stars and other celestial bodies like the Earth are almost round?”, “is it ethically better to eat insects than meat?”, “why is the human that selfish?”, “can blind people dream in colours?”, “how many balloons are needed to lift an 80 kg person into the air?”, etc.

Do you have a question in mind you would like researchers to reflect on? Send it to ec2u@utu.fi before June 15th.
