Before biomarker discoveries made in research optimization can be commercially utilized in the clinical laboratory, many studies and surveys need to be completed and many questions answered. 

At the university of Turku, we have several biomarker innovations yearly. To help our researchers to commercialize these innovations we have participated in the compilation of some of the best practices and pitfalls encountered (practical tool) at different phases between biomarker discovery and development, as well as patent protection and technology transfer from universities, hospitals and research organizations. This type of tool is applicable to various other fields such as drug research and development processes.
