Details

The LICHTWERKSTATT JENA is a makerspace located at the Abbe Center of Photonics of the Friedrich Schiller University Jena with a focus on optics and photonics. The working space provides free access to different technologies (e.g., 3d printers, 3d scanners, laser cutters, VR/AR glasses, microcontrollers) and offers a varied program of events (e.g., workshops, hackathons). The goals of the makerspace are to support innovation and foster collaboration between scientists, industry leaders, startups and the maker community!

The LICHTWERKSTATT makerspace is used by scientists, students, hobbyists and startups that work on innovative ideas that are in the field of photonics. Due to our location at the Abbe Center of Photonics at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena, we can provide photonics specific mentoring. Our daily work involves a lot of rapid prototyping (e.g. with 3D-printing, laser cutting, microcontrollers) where we also work with design thinking approaches to keep the user in the center of the mostly technical solutions invented in the makerspace.
