This November, we celebrate 5 years of collaboration, innovation, and community across our 9 universities and more than 60 Associated Partners. On this special occasion, the Coordinator General of the EC2U Alliance, Ludovic Thilly, shares a few words about what we have achieved together and what lies ahead. From joint programmes and Virtual Institutes to new mobility and learning opportunities, EC2U continues to connect, empower, and unite its community.
"In November 2025, we are celebrating the 5th anniversary of the EC2U Alliance! 5 years of constant innovation in our inter-university missions, and this, at the service of the EC2U communities: Students, Administrative and Academic staff, Associated Partners and Citizens. This is worth a celebration!
It is a challenge to summarise all we have already achieved together, since 2020:
- EC2U is now a robust Alliance of 9 universities, with more than 60 Associated Partners, with a shared and collegial governance;
- We have established Virtual Institutes based on UN SDGs, where Students, Teachers and Researchers work together to solve society’s challenges. The Virtual Institutes also host new Joint Master Programmes that provide innovative learning environments for our Students;
- EC2U is also now a vibrant pan-European campus with shared campus life and events accessible to all the EC2U community members, via unprecedented mobility opportunities;
- EC2U constantly innovates with joint pioneering activities in Digital Education, Life-long career development and Transfer of knowledge.
But above all, EC2U spirit is at the image of its people: open and engaged!
During the next years, EC2U will continue to thrive for the "University in the City" concept and the university's role as a central actor of the Knowledge Square. The Alliance's core values will continue to include collegial cooperation, defence of academic/democratic values, fostering physical interaction, and promoting active citizenship, tolerance, equality, diversity, openness, and critical thinking. EC2U's future is more than ever encapsulated in its motto: Empower, Connect, Collaborate, Unite!
Happy anniversary EC2U!"
