The 3rd EC2U Doctoral Colloquium will convene doctoral education professionals, senior academics, and PhD candidates from across the nine universities of the EC2U Alliance. This annual gathering underscores the Alliance’s commitment to fostering excellence in doctoral training and amplifying its societal impact.
Over three days, more than 20 specialists—including alumni, researchers, and administrative experts—will come together to bridge policy and practice, ensuring that doctoral training remains both innovative and accessible. This 3rd edition of the EC2U Colloquium in Doctoral Studies will kick off with a high-level opening led by the Vice-Rector for Internationalization and the Vice-Rector for Research from the University of Salamanca, signaling the strategic importance of doctoral education for the entire Alliance.
The working sessions will focus specifically on the evolution of doctoral studies, with a technical look at cotutelles (joint supervision), ways to provide insights into non-university career paths after completing a doctorate, and the burgeoning role of micro-credentials at the Alliance. Beyond the technicalities, the colloquium emphasizes the human element through an Open Forum for PhD candidates. This platform allows the professionals and researchers of tomorrow to engage directly with leadership, articulating their expectations and defining how the EC2U Alliance can better serve their development.
The EC2U Doctoral Colloquium is a dynamic space for continuous improvement, harmonization of doctoral standards, and resource sharing.
