On 12 May 2026, Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iași (UAIC) will host the EC2U GLADE Transfer Event Integrated Long-Term Care Systems | Ageing and Digitalisation, organised within the framework of the EC2U Virtual Institute for Good Health and Well-being (GLADE), in conjunction with the 10th edition of the International Conference Integrated Long-Term Care Systems. Ageing and Digitalisation (ISOLTC).
Bringing together academics, researchers, professionals, and participants interested in the future of care systems, the event will focus on the challenges and opportunities generated by demographic change, digital transformation, and the integration of emerging technologies into long-term care practices.
The programme includes three hybrid sessions addressing key topics at the intersection of technology, public policy, and social care. Discussions will explore the role of artificial intelligence and mixed realities in modern care systems, the impact of public perceptions and policies on ageing, and the risks and benefits of digital technologies in supporting informal care for dependent older persons.
The event will feature contributions from scholars and experts from several European universities and institutions, including representatives of Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iași, Akdeniz University, Mykolas Romeris University, and the Romanian Academy.
Among the keynote speakers are Prof. PhD Adrian Iftene, Vice-Rector of UAIC and member of the Faculty of Informatics, Prof. PhD Conţiu Şoitu, Vice-Rector of UAIC and member of the Faculty of Philosophy and Social-Political Sciences, and Prof. PhD Daniela Şoitu from the Department of Sociology, Social Work and Human Resources.
The event will take place in a hybrid format, both on-site, in the “Mihai Eminescu” Aula Magna of UAIC, and online via Microsoft Teams, reflecting EC2U’s commitment to inclusive participation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and knowledge exchange across the European university alliance.
Through initiatives such as this event, EC2U and UAIC continue to foster dialogue on major societal challenges and to promote innovative, human-centred approaches to health, well-being, and ageing in Europe.
