Organised under the umbrella of the EC2U Virtual Institute for Good Health and Well-being (GLADE) and held in conjunction with the 10th International ISOLTC Conference, the event focused on the critical intersection of Integrated Long-Term Care Systems, Ageing, and Digitalisation.

Hosted in the historic “Mihai Eminescu” Aula Magna of UAIC and streamed online, the hybrid event gathered 316 participants (126 onsite and 190 online). The event fostered the exchange of research findings and best practices to help strengthen healthcare strategies across the EC2U Alliance.

A multidisciplinary approach to global challenges

The programme addressed the future of long-term care by bridging the gap between cutting-edge technology and human-centric policy. The day was structured into three high-impact sessions led by UAIC and international academics:

• The Tech Frontier: Prof. PhD Adrian Iftene (Vice-Rector/Faculty of Informatics, UAIC) demonstrated how Artificial Intelligence and Mixed Realities are being integrated into modern care systems to enhance patient autonomy.
• Policy & Perception: Prof. PhD Conțiu Șoitu (Vice-Rector/Faculty of Philosophy and Social-Political Sciences, UAIC) challenged existing frameworks, exploring how societal visions and policies shape the reality of long-term care.
• Research & Practice: An international panel featuring Prof. PhD Daniela Șoitu (UAIC), alongside experts from the University of Iceland, Akdeniz University, Mykolas Romeris University, and the Romanian Academy-Iaşi Branch, examined the risks and benefits of digital tools in the informal care for dependent older persons.

The success of this Transfer Event was rooted in strong interdisciplinary and institutional synergy. Key partners included:

• The TZMO Romania Foundation/Group
• UAIC Faculty of Philosophy and Social-Political Sciences

By bringing together professional services, technology experts, and academic researchers, the event provided a holistic perspective on demographic shifts and the ethical implementation of AI in healthcare.

Building a scalable blueprint

Following the success of UAIC’s recent Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) on social health, this Transfer Event further solidifies the university’s role as a living laboratory for the EC2U Alliance. By sharing actionable research on ageing and digitalisation, UAIC and its GLADE partners are providing a scalable blueprint for sustainable, high-quality care across Europe.
