The EC2U Hospital Network, operating under the umbrella of the EC2U Virtual Institute for Good Health and Well-being (GLADE), has successfully concluded its latest international webinar "The Unseen Air: how urban pollution affects our Health and Happiness."
Organised on 25 February 2026 by "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" University of Iași (UAIC), the event brought together researchers, academic staff, and PhD students from across the EC2U Alliance for an in-depth exploration of one of today’s most pressing environmental challenges.
The webinar featured Professor Cecilia Arsene, Director of the Doctoral School of Chemistry and of the RECENT AIR Research Center at UAIC, who delivered a compelling presentation on how invisible urban pollutants act as significant stressors for both physical health and overall well-being in urban communities.
A total of 36 participants registered for the event, with 21 attending the live session via Microsoft Teams, reflecting the growing interest in environmental health topics within the Alliance. The discussion highlighted cutting-edge research conducted within the RECENT AIR Research Center and emphasised the crucial role of academia in shaping healthier and more sustainable urban environments.
As part of the GLADE Virtual Institute, the EC2U Hospital Network serves as an essential bridge between medical practice and academic research. By fostering knowledge exchange across institutions and countries, GLADE actively contributes to promoting Good Health and Well-being throughout the Alliance.
The success of the "Unseen Air" webinar confirms the Institute’s commitment to continuing its series of monthly online events, designed to strengthen collaboration among research departments, hospital partners, and community stakeholders at a trans-European level.
