Work Package Description

WP1 not only takes care of the regular management of the RI4C2 project, it also aims at accompanying the members of the EC2U Alliance in a process that will lead to a true transformation of their R&I strategy. This will be achieved by enriching the existing individual R&I strategies with all the results and tools of the RI4C2 project and making the joint EC2U R&I agenda a reality. Also, due to the specific context of the European Universities initiative, special attention will be paid to ensuring a constant dialogue between the actors of the EC2U Erasmus+ project and of the RI4C2 project. It is this combination between the two projects that will enable the creation of the proposed Pan-European Knowledge Ecosystem (PEKE).

Objectives

The first objective of WP1 is to handle the management of the project via the monitoring of the budget, activities, milestones and deliverables, with a selection of efficient tools and the organisation of regular meetings of the Management Committee. WP1 will also manage the reporting on activities.

In the ongoing debate about the future of Alliances of European Universities, a crucial aspect is whether to grant them a specific European legal status. Thus, a second objective is to review the available options and perform a Cost Benefit Analysis of the most suitable ones. It will also go deeper in the analysis of cooperation capacities of the EC2U Alliance by listing the local/national/European regulations associated to the joint use of research infrastructures.

Another goal is to study the feasibility of shared R&I platforms both from governance and financial viewpoints, including a list of obstacles of any types (regulatory, financial, political, etc.).

Finally, in order to reach the creation of PEKE, WP1 aims to ensure a constant dialogue between the actors of both projects (EC2U Erasmus+ and RI4C2). This will be done by disseminating all results and outputs of the RI4C2 project to the EC2U community, in particular to the members of the EC2U Plenary Council (click here to see its composition) and of the EC2U Closed Council (click here to see its composition). The dialogue will promote the necessary synergy between education and R&I to achieve a true PEKE, which will be launched during a special event at the University of Poitiers on 11 & 12 of June 2024, gathering all local actors from the seven Knowledge ecosystems.

Expected outcomes

  • Recommendations for creating a network of shared R&I platforms.
  • Launch of the Pan-European Knowledge Ecosystem (PEKE).

Activities

The RI4C2 project Booklet is now available! This booklet captures the essence of the RI4C2 project, celebrating three years of innovation and research collaborations within the EC2U Alliance. It is designed to serve as both an accessible communication tool presenting the results of the project and a legacy document.
