About our School

Anadia Group of Schools (AEAnadia) comprises 19 schools and offers a diverse educational network from kindergarten, primary, junior, secondary, adult education, Qualification Center, Training and Certification of Competencies.

The two biggest educational units are the head school –Junior and Secondary School in the city of Anadia, and the Junior School of Vilarinho do Bairro – Escola Básica de Vilarinho do Bairro (EBVB).

EBVB is a school situated in a rural area. It has 233 regular students. There is a strong sense of community in this school and the bonds with our stakeholders are very strong. We have a strong connection with authorities and institutions regarding policies about environment protection and Sustainability and a healthy lifestyle. We are actively engaged in projects which foster environmental friendly behaviours and sustainability, wellbeing, healthy diet, sports and mindfulness.

Our teachers are highly motivated and the project’s team has expertise in management, national and European projects; Eco School programme, Education for Health Project, School Sports Programme and other health / sports education projects.

Intern Responsibilities/Tasks

The tasks for the voluntary EC2U Classroom interns will meet the goal stated above and will require the intern to:

  • study the documents governing the educational activity of the school together with the mentor (curricular documents, timetables, guidelines, annual, semester and unit plans, designing lesson plans);
  • assistance with lesson preparation (e.g., preparation of teaching materials, partial involvement in organizing different subject-area workshops etc.)
  • improve the communication skills of the students;
  • practising oral language with students;
  • bring a fun dimension to learning and discuss socio-cultural themes likely to interest children and adolescents;
  • participating in the implementation of educational projects;

LANGUAGE ASSISTANCE: the intern could be given

– Co-teaching duties: supportive role to language teachers

– Co-teaching duties: supportive role in introducing CLIL settings

Possible activities could include: practicing oral language with pupils, participating in the implementation of educational projects, assistance with lesson preparation (e.g. preparation of teaching materials, copying activities etc., embracing technology as an essential tool for teaching and learning).

CLIL activities are required in at least one of the following languages: English, Spanish.

CLIL settings are required in the following fields: Science in general and Physical Education.

PROJECT SUPPORT: the intern could provide support for special limited-time projects the school is carrying out. The intern can be assigned to assist in thematic projects, preparation for subject area competitions, media productions (theater, film, podcasts, etc.), preparations for large events or participating in the implementation of a school exchange.

GRADE LEVEL(S) OF THE PUPILS: secondary school, pupils aged from 12 to 16

Qualifications & Experience required

The interns should meet a few preconditions:

  • Demonstrate a B 1 / B2 level of English ;
  • Have minimum knowledge about the profession of teaching;
  • Prove basic pedagogical skills;
  • Prove a compassionate and positive attitude;
  • Be an excellent communicator and team player;
  • Have outstanding interpersonal and presentation abilities;
  • Enjoy working with children and adolescents;
  • Raise the students’ interest in learning by dealing with topics they like;
  • Have a connection with sports field – as amateurs or professionals for Physical Education internship;
  • Practise oral language with students;
  • Encourage pupils to express themselves orally;
  • Participate in the implementation of educational projects;
  • lmprove their abilities in Portuguese;
  • Job shadow teachers in our school.
