This second edition of the European Student Assembly brought together students from 28 different European countries with the scope of sharing experiences and coming up with solutions for every student’s daily life issues. Four students from the EC2U Alliance took part in this amazing experience.
“From March to the start of June, we were continuously working in our panels, (namely education, health, cooperation, and defence) to identify the most prominent problems of a European student. We followed meetings with experts in the fields, and workshops on policy drafting in order to be able to introduce our solutions in the most concise and prompt way possible.
In the end, we came up with several recommendations and after some months of online work, we gathered at the European Parliament in Strasbourg for three days to vote on the recommendations of each panel. These recommendations were successfully welcomed in a positive manner with fruitful debates that brought us and our ideas closer together. Furthermore, students got their say in the decision-making of policy-making inside the heart of Europe, the European Parliament.
In parallel, we were able to discuss our representation and work within our respective alliances. This exchange of good practices was a great opportunity to see how we can, as students, be even more involved and participate at different levels in our Alliance. We believe that the next step is the cooperation of students from different alliances in various projects, as we could see the success of ESA.
This experience was the ideal representation of a united and promising generation of European students guaranteeing concrete and imminent changes, and we are grateful to have represented the University of Pavia, the University of Coimbra, the University of Poitiers, and our EC2U Alliance.”
