About our School

The Friedrich-Adolf-Richter-Schule was founded in 2009 by a parents’ initiative. It is an independent, non-governmental but state-recognised community school (grades 1 to 12).

Having developed in great strides from year to year, about 350 pupils learn at our school right now. Different school-leaving certificatesGanztag can be obtained.

Our school is a full-time day school and works with a rhythmic daily routine, open work phases, different project weeks as well as study and creative lessons.

We are a very young, open-minded and diverse school with staff not only from Germany, but also from Colombia, Great Britain, Spain, Poland, Ukraine and Cuba.

Rudolstadt offers favourable living conditions. There are many opportunities to be in the nature, but also close to culture life. The city Jena is very easy to reach by train (less than 30 minutes) and Weimar and Erfurt are also very close. There is no need for a car since everything is in cycling distance and there is a very good system of public transport.

LANGUAGE AND TEACHING ASSISTANCE

We are offering EC2U Classroom Internships in the form of language assistance. At our school grades 1-12 learn English. Classes 6, 11s, 11 and 12 also learn Spanish.

The role of the assistant is to improve the communication skills of the pupils, especially in oral expression, and to deepen their knowledge of a different civilisation and culture.

The intern could be given co-teaching duties, in which they would support the work done by the school’s language teachers, either with the whole class in the presence of the teacher or with small groups of pupils.

Alternatively interns who meet the requirements for both language skills and subject-area expertise can be assigned language assistance duties in CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) settings. Here we are especially interested in teaching History and Geography as CLIL.

GENERAL TEACHING ASSISTANCE

There is also the possibility to work with younger children (grade 1-4) and to accompany them in their everyday school routine. Once a week, they go on a four-hour expedition that integrates the subjects Art, Music, Social Sciences, and Woodwork.

AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM SUPPORT

Interns can support and/or contribute to our school’s afternoon program which is called “Kreativzeit” (creative lessons) and takes place 3 times a week. Courses cover a wide range, e.g. sports, working with wood, cooking, drama, and many more. Our large green school campus offers a great variety of opportunities, and we are open to new ideas for new clubs.

In general, we guarentee very close support by the mentoring teachers.
